Played around 500 hands of 50plo today. Results were very good, I think I ended up somewhere close to +3 buyins and 25-ish bb/100, both of which I was very happy with. I'm right on track for all my goals for the month, playing enough hands for Iron status at FTP, winning at a decent clip, stats where I want them to be, feeling good.
Also keeping another goal I set for myself by staying away from tournament poker for the time being. The lure of the big payoff I have to admit does tempt me. I'd love to play the daily doubles every night, along with the 4k gtd plo and plo8, and a couple of the knockout tourneys, along with the $10 rebuy which is what I scored in to give me the roll to still even be playing today. The cost for these though, adds up very quickly if you're not cashing in them, it'd be very easy to spend $100 on entries in a few hours, which I can't afford to do right now. (Doubles are $12 each, $4k gtd's are $26, the $10r is minimum $30-50)
I did however put up a stake thread on FCP, giving out 5 stakes to a $2.20 donkfest on pokerstars. I don't have a whole lot of money left on Stars, as I moved over the majority of it with the help of a friend from the forum, so I'm just gonna have some fun with what's left on there, play some sng's and maybe donk some 2-7 triple draw (man I wish FTP would add that...)
Anyway, I staked 5 players in to the $2.20 tourney, 3 of which were out within the first ten minutes, the 4th just seconds after the first break, and the 5th just posted that he barely has the amount of the starting stack, an hour and a half in to the tourney...there's some good news....
I truly don't expect wonderful things when I put up these stake threads, but man...a cash, or some genuine effort would be nice. To see some of the hands these guys post, they shove when they're clearly beaten, is so frustrating. ("hmm, the guy just 4-bet me all in preflop, and I have AQ offsuit...I CALL!!!)
I really think I'm done staking people on the open forum. I understand the nature of the whole thing, and I've been the one looking for stakes at some points in my poker career. I still remember when bkice was good enough to stake me and about 6 or 7 others in to a $27 tourney after a big score. Such a selfless act, and I've always remembered that and always tried to "make up" for being on the receiving end.
I've just had NO luck at all though. I staked TEN people in to the $500 added private FCP tourney. The size of the WHOLE field was under 150 players, I had like 6% of all the entries in the damn thing and couldn't get so much as a CASH from any of them. I've done a few more stakes, and with the exception of $5 that I GAVE to Elo and Ag out of appreciation for scoring the $4.40 pool, NOBODY ever has cashed. Elo cashed on the stake for $20, and without even asking or talking about it sent me half as per the usual stake deal. I sent it back to him and told him to let it ride. I never gave him the $5 in the hopes of getting $10 back...he's a guy with little to no roll who seems to have some talent. Hopefully he can make something of it (and ship me a real amount when he hits a cash in a sunday million or something...lol)
Anyways, screw anymore staking. Back to the plo tomorrow. Hopefully the stake karma is good for a two-outer or something when I need it. GL.
