Solid February - and Tilt....

Haven't written in a while, so I wanted to catch up a bit. For the month of February, it was pretty much the best month I've had since I came back to serious poker in August. I finally felt like I had a clue what I was doing, and along with some good fortune in running up a bonus from Party Poker, I ended up a decent winner for the month.

I started off the month of March on a tear too. Was playing $50 with some of the profit I'd made at $25 last month and won around 4 buyins in my first 1k hands of the month....unfortunately, I gave that back yesterday, and have no one but myself to blame for it.

Had a bad start to the session, and it just sort of snowballed from there. For probably the first 150 hands the game went like this - I raise preflop, Four people call, I whiff flop, I check/fold. or - I raise preflop, Guy 3-bets me, I whiff flop, I check/fold. or- I 3bet a guy preflop, whiff flop, c-bet, get raised pretty much all in, fold.... It sucked, in short.

Unfortunately, for some reason, this really started getting on my nerves. The first time I caught even a piece of a flop against a guy who had been pushing me around, I shoveled it against him, pretty much drawing dead. I thought I was in ok shape with top pair/flush draw/backdoor straights, but it turns out he pretty much had all of those crushed.

After losing that, I pushed unimproved aces too hard against a guy who just wasn't letting go...I flopped trips with one of my "xx" cards, but unfortunately so did he, and he boated on the turn. There went another stack.

The one thing about my session that I was actually somewhat proud of was that after I snapped off that last buyin, I realized that I was playing like crap, and shut it down for the night. Discipline probably saved me at least another buyin or two.

Back at it today at $25....
